TODAY IS LEADERSHIP WEDNESDAY:

What  Leadership  is  NOT    

Leadership  is  not  a  Title, 

Leadership  is  not  a  Birthright

Leadership  is  not  Education

Leadership  is  not  Success  or  Wealth

 Leadership  is  not  Authority  over  Others

Leadership  is  not  the  Ability  to  Convince  Others(but  your Own  Inner-Conviction)

Leadership  is  not  the  Promotion (Professional or  Religious)

It is not Power  and  the  Perks  that  come  with  the new  higher  position  you  now  occupy

 WHAT IS IT?

1) Leadership  IS self-discovery,

2) It  cannot  be  appointed,  voted-in or  head-hunted,

3) It  is  born  out  of  a  personal  process  of transformation,  you  cannot  be  appointed  by  another  human being  to  lead,  Because you  were  sent  to  planet  earth  to  discover  your leadership

 *The  point  immediately  above  this  one  needs  further unpacking*

a) Being  appointed
b) Voted-in
c) Headhunted
d) Promoted  into  a  certain  position,
 DOES NOT MAKE YOU THE LEADER!!!

 What  BEING PROMOTED  does: 
in  the  interim  is  set  you  apart  based on  your:

i) visible natural  skills
ii) past  experience
iii) educational accolades

 What  BEING PROMOTED  does:
It  is  a  window  of opportunity  for  you  to:

✔self-discover,
✔an opportunity  to  step  out  of  your  comfort  zone,  and
✔have  the courage  to  build  long  lasting  relationships  with  the  new team  that  you  will  now  be  working  with,

 LEADERSHIP IS CREATING RELATIONSHIPS:
💡relationships characterized  by you  being  your  authentic self, faith-ful, self-sacrificing, and being  humble

 Leadership  is  not  “winging  it”  or  “spinning  it”

✋🏾it  is  not being  good  with  PR

✋🏾controlling  the narrative  out  there  in  the  media,

 "Leadership is the convergence of a radically progressive mindset, fused with your natural talents   and a protected by unshakeable values." -  Umbusi Ziqalo

Lets Unpack this Definition:

 1) Convergence is A place (tangible and intangible) where things meet and combine.
 NB: Convergence is Painful

2) Mindest is Your Current Belief System which *colours* everything you see

 NB: You do not see things as they are, BUT as you BELIEVE. Mindsets are Stubborn.
To Become a Leader, you must change your Mindset.

3) Natural Talents are the gifts you were born with, they are mental, emotional, spiritual and  physical.
NB: These gifts are the most UNUSED  human capabilities in human history.

4) Unshakeable Values are the embedded and entrenched MORAL CHOICES that you have decided to be the Centre of Your Moral Compass.
 NB: Values are the most sacrifed and neglected tools of leadership*
Most Leaders fail on Values.

Umbusi's Blog 20 of 2019| The Myth of Position in Leadership

Leadership is Not the Position of Leadership It seems so simple, yet to many a leader it is not.  The Leadership Space or Position of Authority, is not Leadership. Put in other way, Leadership is not the Position, but the Person's attitude towards the position that they occupy. Leadership is the mindset, yes, the mindset and not the authority-set.  Leadership is not the tools of authority nor the vicinity of power. Making conversation with the powers that be, and actually executing their wishes and whims, is not leadership. It is exactly that, executing the mandate of the powers that be. Leadership is a nuance, it is not obvious to the casual observer.  It is concerned with the future, by inspiring the present, using lessons from the past. I challenge you to consult a book called The Art and Science of Leadership by Umbusi Ziqalo, and begin a journey of unlearning, so that you can learn true leadership.
